Course Description:

This lecture will present a critical review of the literature on infection of the root canal system in cases of retreatment, as well as the challenges and possible disinfection solutions. The presentation will emphasize current knowledge and future trends in infection control, including new irrigation solutions, new technology and new protocols.    

  

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the challenge of disinfection in retreatment cases.
  • Describe pros and cons of different modes of irrigation.

Bettina R. Basrani D.D.S., M.S.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Bettina Basrani is Associate Professor and Director of the M.Sc. Endodontics Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto, Canada. With over 30 peer-reviewed publications, textbook chapters, textbooks and abstracts to her credit, she has been a constant contributor to endodontic science and clinical knowledge. Dr. Basraniā€™s research focuses on intracanal medication and root canal irrigation, including agents and delivery methods.
