Multidisciplinary Approach to the Management of Dental Alveolar Trauma

Description: The treatment of dental alveolar trauma should be a multidisciplinary discussion. Early mixed-dentition injuries ranging from simple displacements to advanced intrusions and avulsions will be described in detail with special emphasis on the role of each team member. Proper treatment of injuries in the developing dentition will many times prevent or lessen long-term recurrent problems related to periodontal and restorative disfigurement. Similar injuries in the adult dentition will be differentiated. Implant placement combined with hard and soft tissue management and restoration, will be demonstrated. Participants will be enlightened by the stable 2 and esthetic results achievable when the focus is always from a multidisciplinary approach in the esthetic zone.

Roger Wise, D.D.S.
Dr. Wise received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Emory University in 1971. He went on to obtain his Certificate in Periodontics from Boston University in 1973, and then completed his Certificate in Orthodontics in 1977, also at Boston University. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
Dr. Wise is a past faculty member and lecturer of the Departments of Orthodontics and Periodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, from 1993 to 2010. He currently lectures at the Department of Periodontics at Harvard University. He has presented more than 200 lectures in the US and throughout the world on the interrelationship between Adult Orthodontics, Periodontics, and Restorative Dentistry. He has also written four textbook chapters and has authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is one of the small number of periodontists in the world fully trained in both Periodontics and Orthodontics. In addition to his private practice focus on Periodontics, Implantology, and Orthodontics, Dr. Wise served 15 years as a consultant for the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.
