CE Credits: 2.0

Course Description:

There currently is significant controversy over the preferred treatment choice for persistent apical disease – orthograde retreatment or apical surgery? While both procedures are frequently applied for management of post-treatment apical periodontitis, case selection may be the most important aspect of overall treatment success.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the pros and cons of orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery, including prognosis.
  • Describe the potential risks associated with orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery in specific cases of post-treatment apical periodontitis.
  • Discuss the specific strategies to increase success and reduce risk at the various stages of orthograde retreatment and apical microsurgery.
