Description: To become Board Certified, successful completion of three examinations is required. Written, Case History and Oral Examination. This presentation aims to provide key tips for your board preparation, giving you a step by step strategy to successfully pass them all. The main focus of this presentation will be more towards the Oral Examination and the Case History Examination. Two successful Case Portfolios will be presented along with advice on compiling and editing the portfolios. Common pitfalls will be discussed.

  • Demonstrate an essential framework for reviewing the core material covered by the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) examinations and understanding how best to prepare for them
  • List which key topics of endodontics should be covered and how to narrow down the complex ones, to be able to achieve a good and realistic preparation to successfully take the oral component of the certification
  • Identify the requirements for successful submission of the Case Portfolio to the Board of Examiners

Carolina Rodriguez-Figueroa, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Carolina Rodriguez-Figueroa is a board certified endodontist who was born in Caracas, Venezuela where she obtained her dental degree at the Universidad Central de Venezuela, Facultad de Odontologia (DDS Equivalent). Before moving to Unite States she obtained a Certificate in Endodontics (2006) at Universidad del Salvador (USAL) & Asociación Odontológica Argentina (AOA), School of Medicine, Endodontic Program, Buenos Aires -Argentina and her Certificate in Gerodonlogy (2004), Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM),School of Dentistry, Social and Clinical Gerodontology Dentistry Program. Since the beginning of her dental career, she has been involved in multiple voluntary dental and medical missions in Venezuela, Spain, Argentina and in the United States of America. She obtained a certificate from the Oral Health Services for Older Adults Program (2009-2011) and Endodontics (2011-2013) at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. She began her career in academics joining the Division of Endodontics at the University of Minnesota as an Adjunct Faculty in 2011, she became Assistant Professor in 2013 and in 2019 got promoted to Associate Professor. She is the director of the Undergraduate Endodontics and is the Director of the Pre-Clinical and Endo elective course. She also collaborates with the Graduate Program. Dr. Rodriguez-Figueroa also works in private practice once a week with the Endodontics Specialists PA.

Lauren E.. Belous, D.M.D.

Lauren Belous was born and raised in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, PA. She received her Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, in Science Pre-Professional Studies and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame. Lauren then received her D.M.D., summa cum laude, from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, in Boston, MA. While at Tufts, Lauren was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, a dental honors fraternity, and Honos Civicus, a society which recognizes students who excel academically and as civic leaders. Lauren pursued post-doctoral residency training at Tufts, where she was awarded a Speciality Certificate in Endodontics.

Dr. Belous is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics, and is active within the dental community both locally and on a national level. She currently serves on the Personal and Professional Relations Committee for the American Association of Endodontists and also the New Dentist Committee for the Pennsylvania Dental Association. She loves exploring the Northeast with her husband, daughter and two mini labradoodles.

Katie Divine, D.D.S., M.S.

Dr. Divine is a board-certified endodontist in a full-time private practice in Rochester, MN. She also teaches part-time as an Adjunct Affiliate Professor at the University of Minnesota Department of Endodontics. She has co-authored a textbook chapter in the new edition of The Dental Pulp, published in the Journal of Endodontics, and is currently Chair of the AAE Membership Engagement Committee and the outgoing New Practitioner Trustee on the Foundation for Endodontics Board.
