CE Hours: 0.75

Description: Dynamic navigation in Endodontics promises to unlock new synergies and can be an effective treatment tool providing Endodontists with accurate information in real-time for complex clinical scenarios. Computer/CT-assisted “dynamic” navigation has the potential to enable clinicians perform modern minimally invasive procedures with higher accuracy and precision. The purpose of this presentation is to discuss the evidence and applications of the latest generation dynamic navigation system. This presentation also aims to outline the digital workflow involved with this technology and provide a step-by-step guide for successful practical clinical integration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the evolution and rationale for the advent of Static and Dynamic Navigation technologies in Endodontics
  • Describe the current evidence for minimally invasive endodontics and benefits of dynamic navigation in non-surgical and surgical endodontics
  • Critically evaluate the chair-side feasibility with a step-by-step guide to integrate this technology into your daily clinical practice

Sameer D. Jain, DDS, MS, MSD

Dr. Sameer Jain is a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics and currently dedicates full-time to his private practice "Woodland Hills Endodontics" in Los Angeles. He formerly served an Assistant Professor Director of the Urgent Care Clinic with the Department of Endodontics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) School of Dentistry.

Dr. Jain’s research activity focuses on endodontic biomaterials and transnational technology. He has established the country’s first dynamic navigation model for “Minimally Invasive Endodontics” research and development. His research paper published in JOE, titled "Dimensional Accuracy of Dynamic Navigation Technology in Locating Calcified Canal" was one of the first researches exploring the potential of applying dynamic 3D navigation technology in Endodontics. Dr. Jain has authored and co- authored numerous peer-reviewed published articles and two books in the field of endodontics. Dr. Jain is the inventor and holds a patent for “HYBROSONIC”, a novel heat + sonic obturation and irrigation system. His work has earned recognition in the form of the AAE's Resident Award, the Jean-Marie Laurichesse Research Award, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award, MIT’s Young Innovator TR35 Fellow award and the ADA’s Henry M. Thornton Fellowship award.

Dr. Jain is a scientific reviewer for all the top endodontic journals (Journal of Endodontics, International Endodontic Journal and Clinical Oral Investigations) and served as a nominated member on AAE's Research and Scientific Affairs, and Corporate Relations Committee.

Dr. Sameer Jain earned his Certificate and MSD in Endodontics from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry at Houston (2015-2017). Dr. Jain completed his Masters in Dental Biomaterials at University at Buffalo in New York (2013-2015), General Practice Residency (2011-12) and dental school from India (2007-2011).
