Description: Mastering clinical skills during residency and as a new practitioner is a challenge, but once you have your clinical bearings you may consider becoming your own boss. Starting your own endodontic practice comes with a number of responsibilities, from finding the perfect location to financing and staffing. You’ll be required to make key business decisions and navigate the many odds and ends that come with practice management. Personal experiences and various strategies for endodontic practice ownership will be shared.

Dontra Scott, DDS
Dr. Dontra Scott is a Board Certified Endodontist and practices at Heights Endodontics in Houston, TX. He currently serves as the Co-Chair for the 2024 New Voices Tract.
Dr. Scott is originally from Columbia, Maryland. He attended the University of Maryland, College Park where he received a Bachelor of Science in 2006. Dr. Scott continued to pursue his education in the field of dentistry at Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. earning a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2010.
Dr. Scott moved to New York City after dental school and served as chief resident at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital (BronxCare Health System) residency program.
After two years in general practice residency he was accepted into the Advanced Education Program in Endodontics at New York University. While at NYU he was able to provide care for the diverse population of New York City and around the world. Dr. Scott participated in outreach programs with Henry Schien that afforded him the opportunity to educate and provide endodontic care for underprivileged populations in Puebla, Mexico and Granada, Nicaragua. Dr. Scott was awarded a Specialty Certificate in Endodontics from NYU in 2014. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Scott serves as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for the NYU Department of Endodontics.

Shaun Bullard, D.M.D, M.S.
Dr. Shaun Bullard received his Bachelors of Science degree in Biological Sciences at Georgia State University. Dr. Bullard then attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry where he completed his Doctor of Medical Dentistry Degree (D.M.D) and received his Masters in Endodontics. During his tenure as a resident at University of Florida, Dr. Bullard was a Two time resident awardee for research presentation at the Annual AAE Meetings. In May of 2020, Dr.Bullard established Buckhead Village Endodontics as a high-end new construction office in the heart of Atlanta's Buckhead Village District to change the prescriptive of the typical dental office. In 2023 Dr. Bullard achieved Diplomate Status with the American Board of Endodontics.

Ehsan Farrokhmanesh, D.D.S.
Dr. Farrokh is a board-certified endodontist in New York City, and practices at his office, Williamsburg Endodontics in Brooklyn NY. Originally from Toronto, Canada, he earned his DDS degree at NYU College of Dentistry and completed a GPR and post-graduate endodontics at NYU Langone Hospital. During his training, Dr. Farrokh served on the REACH Council with the Foundation for Endodontics. He is the co-founder of Williamsburg Endodontics, a contemporary endodontic facility in the heart of NYC. He is currently the director of endodontics at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, and has lectured on minimally invasive endodontics, clinical decision making, as well as the latest in multisonic and laser-assisted irrigation. His passion lies in innovative endodontic techniques that further increase success rate, enabling the retention of teeth that are typically deemed hopeless. He lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with his wife, and loves exploring the good eats, arts, and culture that New York City has to offer.

Mary J. Um, D.MD, M.S.
Mary Um, DDS, MS, is the owner and lead clinician for the Ivy Endodontic Group in Irvine and Garden Grove. She holds an Adjunct Assistant Professor position in the Department Endodontics and Periodontics in the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of the University of Southern California. Her research focuses on buccal plate thickness and endodontic microsurgery success and was recently published in the journal Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, and Oral Pathology. Dr. Um is an active member in the American Association of Endodontists and the California State Association of Endodontists. Dr. Um has served on the AAE Professional and Public Relations committee, the Continuing Education Committee, and as the Co-Chair of the Surgical workshop. She is currently a member of the Annual Meeting Planning Committee.
Dr. Um received the Health Professional Scholarship from the United States Air Force and was in active duty in Idaho, Texas, and deployed to Qatar, after which she was honorably discharged. Dr. Um earned her doctorate of dental science from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in 2010. She completed her endodontic residency training and a Masters in Oral Science at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry 2018. Dr. Um has been in private practice and has served as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and at Northshore University Healthsystem Evanston Hospital General Dentistry Residency program.

Neil Singh, D.MD, M.S.
Dr. Neil Singh is originally from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale for his dental and specialty degree, where he was recognized for his outstanding leadership in community service inside and outside of school.
He was fortunate enough to be involved with endodontic research throughout his years at Nova, which allowed him to learn about newer endodontic therapies such as revascularization and regeneration procedures, along with in-depth lab work on new disinfecting agents and their interactions with bacteria. After moving back to Chicago, he worked as an associate for several years after building a ground up start-up practice which opened in late December of 2019, just months before COVID had shut everyone down.
Dr. Singh prides himself on his compassion for healthcare and community service. He is an active member in the American Dental Association, the American Association of Endodontists, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society, and the Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity.
He is an AVID ADOCATE of ORGANIZED DENTISTRY and the PRIVATE PRACTICE Approach. He has been past president of Southwest
Branch of Chicago Dental Society, and currently serves as a DIRECTOR on the Chicago Dental Society Board.
During his residency, he married his lovely wife, Reena, who is also from the suburbs of Chicago. They decided to relocate back to Chicago to be closer to family and loved ones. They now currently reside with their two children Sienna and Tyler. He enjoys physical fitness, cooking, and sports, and he is an art enthusiast.
