5 (2 votes)

CE Hours: 0.75

Description: While single-visit endodontics affords many advantages to patients and dentists alike, a high level of endodontic competence is required to achieve these benefits on a consistent basis. Chief amongst these is the ability to clean, shape and disinfect complex root canal systems as well as the skill to deal with complications such as intricate canal anatomy, loss of patency, calcified root canals and decompression of periapical tissues. Achieving all this in a single visit can be a daunting task.

This lecture will discuss the pros and cons of single-visit endodontics and will present a laser-assisted treatment philosophy that promotes a high level of success in the management of these cases.

List the pros and cons of single-visit endodontics.
  • Discuss the potential hurdles encountered in single visit endodontics.
  • Describe a laser-assisted protocol, radial apical cleansing, for the management of these complications.
