SP-51 Biological Effects and Clinical Behavior of Calcium Silicate-Based Materials

Product not yet rated

CE: 0

Course Description:

Calcium silicate-based materials have been widely studied due to their resemblance and similar applicability to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). These bioactive materials represent a new concept in endodontic treatment because of their interaction with stem cells localized in dental tissues. This presentation reviews the current research regarding biocompatibility of calcium silicate-based materials and also to describe our results with these materials in different clinical applications.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the biological effects of calcium silicate-based materials on dental stem cells in terms of proliferation, cell viability, differentiation and mineral tissue formation.
  • Recognize the clinical use of calcium silicate-based materials in endodontics and their limitations.
  • Discuss the results of different clinical cases in which these materials have been used.
